COLLAGE Dance Ensemble Presents moonFIRE
Award winning choreographer brings dazzling dance performance to
Washington DC
The collage Dance Ensemble, under the direction of award-winning choreographer Ahmet Luleci, will present an enchanting evening of re-interpreted dances from Europe, the Americas, and the Near East to create a completely contemporary dance experience. The Boston Globe called the show "Dazzling" and Dance Umbrella found it to be "Boundlessly Energetic." The show features "Breaking the Rules", a high-energy piece that explores dance as rebellion in the 1850s and 1950s. The show also presents "Anatolian Mosaic", featuring dances from Bolu, Silifke, Zeybek, Thrace and the Black Sea region. The evening also will include a flute and guitar performance by Ozlem and Serdar Keskin, who will play popular Turkish music from today and yesterday.

About COLLAGE Dance Ensemble:
COLLAGE grew out of Mr. Luleci's goal of making folk dance and music more accessible and interesting to a general audience. The company presents a range of pieces, from traditional choreographies to more modern interpretations that remain true to the spirit of the dance. Using music that makes people want to jump out of their seats and join the dance, the company showcases the beauty, energy and passion of these neglected dance forms as well as the cultural heritage they represent. Today, collage Dance Ensemble features over 20 dancers, performing in the US and Canada.
The group was a recent winner of the Dance Umbrella "Boston Moves Choreography" award. The ensemble's dedication to this much deserving but under-appreciated art form has won them the "Program of the Year" award from Boston University in 1997 and 1998, for their performances of Turkish and Greek folk music and dance. The company's proposals for 2000 and 2001 projects also have been awarded arts grants from the Boston Cultural Center.
