I saw on your MSN Encarta web site that you are preparing a worldwide, open information source for Internet users and I appreciate your efforts towards creating such a library of the history and the future.
I believe learning and teaching history is crucial. In the light of history, we all have to work for peace and tolerance, without any religious, ethnic or cultural discrimination. Naturally any industry should do what it has to do.
However the projects should be based on historical and real documents instead of prejudice, or else, it would be nothing but a mistake.
I, here, am writing to you to prevent Microsoft, a worldwide knowledge leader, from making a historical mistake in your Encarta web site, link http://encarta.msn.com/find/Lists.asp?ID=5810659 .
There is no Kurdistan inside TURKEY, though there can be no Kurdistan cities in Turkey. There might be kurdish population in these cities BUT the country name is TURKEY.
If you consider that region as Kurdistan, then few questions arrose in my mind:
1) When you sell your products to Diyarbakir for example, do you write Turkey or Kurdistan on your invoice?
2) When your businessmen go to Diyarbakir or Adiyaman for a business meeting, from where do they take their visa? Turkish Consular services or Kurdistan Consular Services?
Even when you only think about answers to these two questions I think they are pretty self explanatory and they can lead you to the correct answer which is not a part of your Encarta web site.
I am vigorously protesting your company because of producing false and unethical information and publishing that information in a worldwide network. I urge you to consider changing that false information in your Encarta web site and related Encarta products. Your actions run the serious risk of motivating me and other Turkish communities to protest Microsoft and other partner products.
