This concert presents the unique opportunity to hear the popular American music of the great George Gershwin conducted by the Russian Maestro Yuri Temirkanov. As the former artistic director of the Kirov Opera, Maestro Temirkanov brings a wealth of experience to the selections from the opera Porgy and Bess, which will feature soprano Kishna Davis, bass Arthur Woodley and the Morgan State University Choir. The young pianist Fazil Say will make his BSO debut with the monumental Rhapsody in Blue. Another Gershwin classic, An American in Paris, makes this evening of Gershwin one not to be missed.
